About the Sewell Family
Originally from American Samoa, giving back to others is a tenant of who the Sewell Family is. In 2012, Gabriel, Sr. and Arlene decided to move the family to the United States, knowing that football might provide more opportunities for their children: Gabriella, Gabriel, Jr. Nephi, Penei, and Noah.
Sports have played a large role in the success of the Sewell family. Gabriel, Sr. is the head coach of the 9x Utah State Football Champions Orem High School. Gabriella competed in track and field in high school and graduated from Dixie State University with a passion for graphic design. Gabriel, Jr. paved the way for his brothers, turning his football career into a scholarship at University of Nevada Reno and graduated with a degree in kinesiology. Nephi followed in Gabriel, Jr.'s footsteps landing at the University of Utah to play football and graduated with a degree in International Studies. Penei and Noah both received scholarships to play football at Oregon. In 2021, Penei Sewell was drafted as the seventh overall pick to the Detroit Lions.
The Sewell family continues to emphasize the values of family, humility, and gratitude. The family has felt love and support when personally faced with challenging times, and is excited to use the Sewell Strong Foundation as a way to share their blessings with those in need.
